This year we have new seasons from continuing franchises and some exciting spinoffs and reboots. Some of the shows catching the greatest buzz are listed below.

Abbot Elementary (ABC)

Abbott Elementary is a mockumentary that follows teachers in an underfunded public school in Philadelphia. The show balances the real-life problems that teachers and students face in the US Educational System with perfectly timed comedy. Despite the problems, the faculty is dedicated to helping the students, just like a lot of our teachers. The show premiered in December 2021 and you can stream it on ABC.

Euphoria (HBO)

The second season of Euphoria returns to give fans an update on the life of Rue, Jules, Maddy, Nate, Cassie, and their friends. Zendaya stars as Rue, a teenager battling drug addiction and the loss of her new friend at the end of Season 1. Her role as Rue earned Zendaya an Emmy win, and with this season, she may be on her way to earning her second win.

Peacemaker (HBO Max)

DC comic fans can celebrate with the return of Peacemaker to the silver screens with James Gunn directing the show. John Cena played Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad and returns to play the titular character. The show follows Peacemaker as he deals with the aftermath of the movie and is forced to join another organization.

How I Met Your Father (Hulu)

The How I Met Your Mother spinoff brings Hilary Duff as the star of the show, where she recalls the story of how she found her man. The show follows her efforts to find love along with her group of friends in the city. The show premiered on January 18, 2022, and is available to stream on Hulu.

The Gilded Age (HBO)

HBO has a wonderful lineup scheduled for this year and another show premiering this year is The Gilded Age. Julian Fellowes returns with the new show after the success of Downton Abbey and fans of classic shows are bound to be excited. The Gilded Age stars Cynthia Nixon, Christine Baranski, and more to make up an exciting ensemble cast.

Inventing Anna (Netflix)

Most of us enjoy learning more about con artists and what is more exciting than learning about the inner workings of Anna (Delvey?) Sorkin’s life. Anna Sorkin was arrested in 2017 after it was revealed that she had committed fraud and conned various banks and hotels during her time as an influencer. Julia Garner plays the ‘German heiress’ and brings to life Delvey’s rise and fall. 

Bel-Air (Peacock)

Bel-Air is a darker and grittier reboot of the comedy series, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The drama follows Wil’s move from the streets to the mansions in Bel-Air with the Banks’ family. The show will delve into the complexities of Will’s move in the drama, which may just be the spin that the world needs.

WeCrashed (Apple TV+)

WeCrashed will premiere on Apple TV+ on March 18, 2022. The show will star Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway and is inspired by actual events surrounding WeWork. The startup grows to become a business worth billions but its value suddenly falls within less than a year.

Bridgerton (Netflix)

Bridgerton’s second season returns to the screens after a successful first season. The final episode of season 1 revealed Lady Whistledown’s identity, and now with the second season, we will follow Anthony Bridgerton’s search for love.

Moon Knight (Disney+)

Disney’s next big hit is a highly anticipated show is scheduled to release by the end of March. This new series focuses on a man who believes he has multiple personalities. Oscar Isaac is playing this enigmatic and intriguing character. His character goes on to discover and get enraptured by mysteries and Egyptian gods. His journey onto the darker side of matters is what makes the show exhilarating.

Obi-Wan Kenobi (Disney+)

Star Wars fans are being given an insight into the nineteen years that Kenobi spent on Tatooine, looking after Luke Skywalker from afar. The show is expected to take place ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith and will see Ewan McGregor return as Kenobi. The casting announcements also informed fans that Hayden Christensen will be returning as Darth Vader, and we are excited to see him take on Darth Vader almost seventeen years later.
